Step by stepHow to Check the Sarpanch Result: 5 Ways
- 1
🏫 At the panchayat, the same night
Panch and sarpanch ballots are counted at the gram panchayat headquarters right after polling ends. The Returning Officer reads out the votes of each candidate and declares the winner there. This is the first and fastest result.
- 2
🌐 On the State Election Commission website
Open sec.rajasthan.gov.in, go to the Panchayati Raj election / results section, choose your district → Panchayat Samiti → Gram Panchayat, and open the winners' list. Uploads can take a day after counting.
- 3
📰 District lists in newspapers
Next morning, Hindi dailies print district-wise lists of new sarpanchs. Useful, but if a name or vote count differs, the Returning Officer's declaration and the SEC list are the official record.
- 4
📜 Certificate of election
The winner receives a certificate of election from the Returning Officer. Any candidate can ask the RO for a copy of the result sheet showing votes polled for each candidate.
- 5
🗓️ Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad: 20 November
These members are counted together at district headquarters on 20 November 2026, after all four phases. Results appear on the SEC website ward by ward (PS ward and ZP ward), and party-wise tallies follow.
Tie, recount, unopposedSarpanch Result Rules: Tie, Recount and Unopposed Winners
| Situation | What the rules do |
|---|---|
| Only one candidate left after withdrawal | Declared elected unopposed; no poll is held for that post. About 119 sarpanchs were reported unopposed before phase 1. |
| Two candidates get equal votes | The tie is broken by draw of lots by the Returning Officer in front of the candidates. |
| You doubt the count | Give a written recount request with reasons to the Returning Officer at the counting table, before the result is declared. |
| Result already declared | Only an election petition to the District Judge within 30 days can challenge it (Article 243-O, Section 43). See our election petition guide. |
The lawWho Declares the Panchayat Result: Article 243K
243K. Elections to the Panchayats.— (1) The superintendence, direction and control of the preparation of electoral rolls for, and the conduct of, all elections to the Panchayats shall be vested in a State Election Commission consisting of a State Election Commissioner to be appointed by the Governor.
(2) Subject to the provisions of any law made by the Legislature of a State, the conditions of service and tenure of office of the State Election Commissioner shall be such as the Governor may by rule determine: Provided that the State Election Commissioner shall not be removed from his office except in like manner and on the like grounds as a Judge of a High Court and the conditions of service of the State Election Commissioner shall not be varied to his disadvantage after his appointment.
(3) The Governor of a State shall, when so requested by the State Election Commission, make available to the State Election Commission such staff as may be necessary for the discharge of the functions conferred on the State Election Commission by clause (1).
(4) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the Legislature of a State may, by law, make provision with respect to all matters relating to, or in connection with, elections to the Panchayats.
The result of a panchayat election is declared by an officer of the State Election Commission, not by the Election Commission of India and not by the State Government. That is why the official result is on sec.rajasthan.gov.in, and not on the ECI's results site.
🏠 Everyday analogy
Like a school sports day: the house captains shout scores, but only the referee's scoresheet decides the trophy.
🇮🇳 Real Indian example
Suppose in a Sikar village WhatsApp groups announce a winner at 7 pm, but the RO's count finishes at 9 pm with the other candidate ahead by 23 votes. Only the RO's declaration counts.
ConstitutionPanchayat Results and the Constitution
